About this tool
WRRK's image merger combines two photos into one — either side-by-side (horizontal) or stacked (vertical) — using the Canvas API. The whole pipeline runs in your browser tab, which means your photos never get uploaded and there's no upload wait. Auto-resize keeps aspect ratios intact — for horizontal merge, both images are scaled to share the same height; for vertical merge, the same width.
Built for the most common two-image needs: before/after comparison shots, side-by-side product views, split-screen social media posts, and quick visual diffs. Adjust the gap from edge-to-edge (0 px) to a wide polaroid-style border, and pick any background colour for the gap. Output is lossless PNG by default — switch to JPG when smaller file size matters more than transparency.
How to merge two images (5 steps)
- Drop image 1. Add the first image — it goes on the left (horizontal) or top (vertical).
- Drop image 2. Add the second image — it goes on the right (horizontal) or bottom (vertical).
- Pick orientation. Choose horizontal (side-by-side) or vertical (stacked). The tool auto-resizes one image to match the other's edge.
- Customise. Adjust the gap between images and pick a background colour for the gap.
- Download. Click 'Merge' to render on Canvas, then download the merged PNG or JPG.

Frequently asked questions
+−How does the auto-resize work?
For horizontal (side-by-side) merge, both images are resized so their heights match — the larger image is scaled down to the smaller one's height. For vertical (stacked) merge, widths are matched the same way. Aspect ratios are preserved.
+−Will the merged image be high-quality?
Yes. The tool uses lossless PNG output and high-quality scaling. Quality only drops if you scale up beyond an image's native resolution — avoid that by starting with high-res sources.
+−Can I add a gap or background between the two images?
Yes. Adjust the gap slider (0-100 px) and pick a background colour. With gap = 0, the images sit edge-to-edge.
+−Is it limited to two images?
This tool is purpose-built for two — perfect for before/after, side-by-side comparisons, and split-screen posts. For 3 or more images, use our collage maker.
+−Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Both the resize and merge steps run entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
+−What output format does it produce?
PNG by default — lossless, supports transparency on the gap. You can switch to JPG if you prefer smaller file size and don't need transparency.
+−Can I merge a portrait and a landscape together?
Yes — the auto-resize handles mixed orientations. For best visual balance, use horizontal merge for two portraits and vertical merge for two landscapes.
